Dinner Gong Equals Mile And Eighth Record in Work GOLDEN GATE FIELDS, Albany, Calif., May 2. — Abe Hirschbergs Dinner Gong turned in a sensational private trial here this afternoon in preparation for his engagement in Saturdays running of the 0,000 Golden Gate Handicap. He worked a mile and an eighth in 1:47% equalling the American record for that distance and galloped out a mile and a quarter in 2:00%, just four-fifths of a second off the worlds standard. The son of Eight Thirty stepped the first quarter of his trial in :24, the half mile :47V5, the three-quarters 1:11, and the mile in 1:35%.
