BORDER VINTAGE was hustled all the way while never far back, slipped between horses coming into the stretch and resisted PUTITTHERE under extreme pressure. The latter raced closest to the pacemaker, dropped back while coming slightly wide into the stretch, then came again and was reaching the winner. TIGER CALL broke fastest and held a clear lead until inside the furlong post, then faltered. DARK SHIP made up ground while between horses and finished fastest. PHARANT was outrun. NEW BLUE tired. MISS BOBOLINK, unhurried while outrun and trailing for a half mile, came between horses coming into the stretch, then, responding to strong punishment, was up to best TAKE COURAGE. The latter moved up fast from a slow beginning to take command at the quarter, raced extremely wide on the final turn, then held on gamely while finishing beyond the middle of the track. FAIR SHIFTER slipped through on the inside the final furlong and finished determinedly. LITTLE CECILIA loomed dangerously entering the stretch, then weakened. JOBLOTS lacked a closing rally. MISS BOBBY SOX closely pressed the pace, was forced wide and, taken up to avoid TAKE COURAGE on the final turn and quit. PLAYING POMP tired. KEEP BRIGHT was outrun. GRAFAIRCHAN was steadied within striking distance for a half mile, easily assumed command on the outside leaving the backstretch and increased his advantage thereafter to win with speed in reserve. SPEEDY FELLOW saved ground while a keen factor throughout and held on well for the place, then pulled up sore. SUN FLAME had a rough trip. SIR CHESTER was never a serious menace. Won driving; second and third the same KNIGHTHOOD, in hand for a half, moved to the leaders gradually, assumed command entering the stretch and then was hard ridden to withstand RUDDY GLOW. The latter, outrun to the final turn, came into contention between horses, had to be taken up and to the outside for the final drive, then closed fast. FAVORITE TRAP, forced back at the start and in close quarters to the backstretch, moved up fast rounding the far turn, then could not get up in the drive. BIAIR was shuffled back on the far turn, then saved ground and finished well. IN TIME and MULLIGATAWNEY were used up duelling for command and quit. SHADE RUFF quit. LITTLE BITS was through early. OOM PAUL, lacking early speed as usual, was taken to the middle of the track for the drive, then, responding to strong hand urging closed resolutely and was up to best TETRATOMIC. The latter was hustled into contention early, took a clear lead in the early stretch, then continued determinedly, but was unable to resist the winner. SILVER CROSS moved up fast from a poor beginning, made a determined bid rounding the final turn, then weakened. VALLEY DREAM showed the most speed to the final turn, then faltered. KATHYS OWN tired. SMILING EYES held on well into the stretch, then was forced back sharply while tiring. DOUBLE LUCK began slowly. Scratched— 72978 Greenbrier, 104. FLYING RAID disposed of IN VOGUE when straightened into the backstretch, set the pace under steady pressure and lasted under strong urging to hold RADAR MAN safe. The latter was steadied rounding the first turn, moved into serious contention willingly, then closed gamely under punishment in the drive, but was not good enough and pulled up sore. VALLEY POISE, shuffled back soon after the start, came to the inside for the drive and closed with good courage. CATHIE JEAN weakened in the drive. IN VOGUE was unable to hold the lead and tired.
