HEAD STREAM moved through along the inside to attain a slight lead before completing the opening quarter, saved ground rounding the turn and drew clear to win handily. ETERNAL DANGER, in front briefly along the backstretch could not stay with the top one through the stretch. GOLDEN CLOVER raced within striking distance, but faltered when set down for the drive. DOC STEARN lacked a rally. FREE MEAL was never a factor. The latter held a commanding lead to midstretch, but could not resist the winner when roused. NUPTIAL moved menacingly in the early stretch and tired thereafter. WATER MELON rallied mildly too late. STROLL flattened out after pressing the pace to the stretch. JOE PONZER quit. HASTY MABEL was through early. WYE RIVER quit to a walk.
