Con- - fidently ridden by apprentice Gordon Glis- son, who was completing a saddle double, the gelded product of Bull Lea — Armful, "* repsonded readily when mildly urged for -J** the stretch run and reached the end of the jj six-furlong allowance event three and one- quarter lengths before Leo J. Caillouettes Best Prospect, second by an additional length and one-half in advance of Nate L. Raffelmans Pomps Gal. Miss Jean Cambrons Challorette, M. M. Hellermans Debaby, Mrs. Frank P. Letel-liers Knights Hill, Henry Tikulskis Bobs Pick and James C. Ellis Quintero comprised the remainder of the field and finished in the named order. A prohibitive choice in the wagering, the Calumet gelding carried his intermediate impost of 113 pounds, including the five- pound allowance for the apprentice Glis-son, in most easy fashion and returned his innumerable backers .40, .60 and .20 across the board. Armed was timed in 1:12% for the assigned distance and galloped out an extra furlong in 1:25%. Taken Off Pace Armed broke alertly as the group was dispatched from the gate in excellent alignment, but was wisely taken back from the early pace cut out by Best Prospect, Debaby and Challorette. This running order underwent no decided change as the field swung into the home lane. At this point, Glisson brought Armed to the middle of the track for the final test and it appeared a certainty that the Calumet colorbearer would encounter little difficulty in adding the afternoons feature to his impressive lot of victories. Best Prospect went on gamely to take down the runner-up honors from the Raffelman charge, who lacked a finishing , rally when hard ridden through the late stages.
