Flying Raid Takes Measure Of Radar Man at Lincoln LINCOLN DOWNS, Lincoln, R. I., May 2. —Harold W. Shaffers speedy mare, Flying Raid, was a mildly surprising victor of the six and one-half furlongs Tiverton Purse here today, beating the short-priced favorite, Radar Man, by a length, while he, in turn, was better than two lengths before McKenney and Hickmans Valley Poise. Mrs. Inez R. Smarts Cathie Jean, an extreme outsider in the event, lasted to be fourth in the field of 10. Flying Raid returned a 3.80 mutuel. Time for the event over a strip deeply cushioned by the work of harrows this morning, was an excellent 1:21%. A good off-day crowd estimated at 7,500 was present, and were rewarded by three winning favorites in the first six races. The weather was warm, but rather humid and heavy clouds were overhead throughout the afternoon.
