Weil-Matched Field of Five Seeks Detroits Livonia Purse Tiger Matt Seen Favorite * Over Arpege, Beauty Spot In Six-Furlong Offering By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent DETROIT, ,Mich., May 28. — The Livonia Purse, a six-furlong sprint for three-year-olds, is to occupy the spotlight tomorrow at this spacious and modern Michigan Racing Association plant. While only five horses are entered in the feature, the Livonia shapes up as an interesting offering and the race should throw further light on the relative abilities of the members in the local sophomore colony. Although Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gunthers Tiger Matt is to have the apprentice allowance, the quick bay gelded son of Tiger and Mattock, is to take up top weight of 114 pounds and he will have the saddle services of young Tommy Cafarelli. Tiger Matt, winner of two races during his juvenile campaign and a like number this spring at Sportsmans Park before shipment to the Motor City, probably will-go postward as the choice over his five rivals. Raced Well Against Older Horses Tiger Matt was beaten here inaugural day in the Anniversary Handicap, but he turned in a sharp performance against older competition, finishing fifth behind Bully Boy, Alphara, Bee Lee Tee, and Ky.
