, _ ; , . Madden on Four Detroit Winners Veteran Reinsman Astride Danada Red, Princess Pine, Xippi Pigeon and Chow Line BULLETIN DETROIT, Mich., May 28.— Jockey Darrell Madden rode his fourth winner on this afternoons program when he guided Chow Line to victory in the sixth race. DETROIT, Mich., May 28. — Jockey Darrell Madden handled his third straight winning mount here this afternoon, piloting Mrs. Joseph Segrettos Xippi Pigeon to a well - deserved graduation victory in the third race, one of the better offerings on a fair program. Madden sent the Segretto colt to the front before going a quarter mile and the winner stepped to the end of the four and one-half furlongs with a two and one-half lengths margin over I. J. Collins Lils Gadget. Just a neck back, Mrs. George Shwab, Jr.s, Vixen Fixit earned the short end of the purse from the five other juveniles contesting the dash. Pallis Royal, a member of the Mrs. Frederick Sharpe and Ray Mullen, Jr., stable, was favored in the race but could do no better than fifth after flashing a bit of early speed. Xippi Pigeon, a bay son of Carrier Pigeon and Xipee, was timed in :54and, and, overlooked by the majority of those present on this pleasant afternoon, returned backers slightly better than 5 to 1. Pallis Royal began fast, but Lils Gadget charged up and took a short lead before going a furlong, with Xippi Pigeon a close and determined second. Approaching the stretch, the latter colt went to the front and, responding readily when Madden rode him out sharply, won going away. Lils Gadget held on courageously after losing command, but she was under strong pressure to save the place from Vixen Fixit, who gave a sharp effort to earn third honors. 10,000 Witness Program Although partly cloudy weather and showers prevailed in the Motor City area, a crowd of 10,000 spectators witnessed the sport. The gathering approved of the late post time, 3:45 p. m., and action at the totalisator windows was quite brisk throughout the afternoon. Jockey Darrell Madden, one of the top reinsmen here this season, rode the winners in the Daily Double events, scoring an easy seven-length decision astride Joseph Mallias Danada Red in the six-furlong opener and then followed that conquest with a • cleverly-achieved neck verdict on Adelard Lamoureuxs Princess Pine in the second race at a similar distance. Maddens mounts were favored in the wagering and the double pay-off on the victorious pair was but 4.20. Danada Red moved into command after racing Khams Hour into submission in the initial sprint and then drew out to win as Madden pleased. Saginaw Stables Ja-tak, who stumbled immediately after the start, ran second and his margin over Mrs. D. Sukundos Verano was a neck with Mr. and Mrs. E. Wards Vinita Major saving fourth money in the field of 10 starters. Princess Pine came from off the pace to get major honors in the second, driving hard through the stretch to beat out E. B. McAtees Lady Serenata while the latter was second by three lengths over H. W. Kellehers Peggy Lewis, pacemaker for the greater portion of the dash. Mrs. H. W. Lindys Just Made It was along in time to salvage fourth from the five other starters. ADELARD LAMOUREUX— Princess Pine carried, his colors to victory in yesterdays second race at Detroit.
