Peterson Dies of Fractured Neck Incurred in-Mat Match RICHLAND CENTER, Wis., May 28 UP. — Curtis "Spike" Peterson, 39-year-old wrestler, died today after suffering a fractured neck in a wrestling match Friday night. James Demetral, Madison, Wis., wrestling promoter, said Sam Abraham, Springfield, 111., lifted Peterson for an airplane spin when Peterson broke loose and hit his head on the mat. His left arm and both legs were para-, lyzed by the injury.
