Name Collins President Of Oregon Turf Group William Kyne Is Treasurer for Portland Meadows Organization PORTLAND, Ore., May 28. — At a meeting of the Portland Turf Association held in the offices of Eugene Oppenheimer recently, the following officers were elected: Henry W. Collins, president; Jerome Margulis, vice-president; William P. Kyne, treasurer; Harold Mundhenk, secretary. Others named to the board of directors were: Harvey Dick, Horace A. Dryer, Ivan Thomas and William Einzig. The board was selected from those men best qualified to foster the sport of thoroughbred racing on a high and successful plane. The members are predominately Oregon men who are respected locally for their business experience and reputation. All have been active for some years in the racing and breeding industry. Henry W. Collins is a prominent Oregon grain man and capitalist and for many years was president of the Pendleton Roundup. Jerome Margulis, Portland jeweler and businessman, has been active in the breeding and racing of horses for some years. Margulis has been a dominant factor in the direction of the newly organized turf association which operates Portland Meadows. William P. Kyne is recognized as San Franciscos leading sports entrepeneur and manages Bay Meadows which this last season allocated a total of 01,000 to charity. Harold Mundhenk is a prominent California attorney and socialite. Harvey Dick, member of a long established Oregon banking family, was for many years identified with amateur riding activities and was one of Oregons leading polo players. Horace A. Dryer is a Oregon realtor and recognized as the dean of ranch property appraisers in the state. Eugene Oppenheimer, recently appointed attorney for the Portland Turf Association, is president of the Oregon Bar Association. Ivan Thomas is one of the most promising young officials in racing and acts in the dual capacity of racing secretary and association steward at Portland Meadows. Thomas has been a driving force in the tracks operation since the inaugural season of 1946. William Einzig, executive with Great Western Malting Co., formerly was state purchasing agent under Gov. Julius Meyer and is active in American Legion and civic affairs.
