Herring Favored Oyer Flood In Eight-Round Garden Bout NEW YORK, N. Y., June 7 UP.— Yqung Jimmy Herring, the "picture fighter" from Ozone Park, N. Y., was favored today to beat slugging Jimmy Flood of New York in their middleweight bout at Madison Square Garden tomorrow night. Although their scrap will be widely televised, it is slated for only eight rounds because of Herrings youth. He is only 19. Blond, stream-lined Herring is the handsomest fighter in action today. He also is a crowd-pleaser because of his boxing skill and his yen for fighting. Despite his youth, Herring is a veteran of 51 professional bouts. He won 42, drew two and lost seven. He belted out 21. Flood, 21, will be returning to action after a four-month layoff that was suggested by the New York Boxing Commission after an electronic examination of his brain had disclosed unfavorable reactions. Flood lost but two of his 42 pro scraps. He had two draws, and he belted out 19 opponents. Previously a wild slugger, Flood has been concentrating on defense for this bout.
