Miss America May See New Track Record Set Twelve Winners Among Nominees For Lincolns Week-End Stake WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., June 7. — Interest in the Miss America Stakes, Lincoln Fields Saturday feature for two-year-old f illies, was increased with the recent running of two five-eighths events, and by the fact that no fewer than 12 winners are included among the 41 nominees. Whirla Lea won last Saturdays Marcia Purse by a length over Miss Break, and Swell Dish, who won three races including the Debutante at the New Orleans Fair Grounds. Whirla Lea scored in :58%, one-fifth of a second faster than the record for the Miss America set by Juliets Nurse last year. She was ridden by Johnny Adams, the meetings leading jockey. Further evidence that a new record may be set for the Miss America, if the track is fast, was given when Kenny Church, the 21-year-old Canadian star, guided Princess Lygia to an eight-length victory in Tuesdays Mata Hari Purse in :58%. Church, incidentally, rode Juliets Nurse in last years Miss America. Princess Lygia, owned by Mrs. Harry Trotsek of Chicago, and the daughter of Roman — Roman Matron, distanced Dixianas In Clover with Espy and the favored Hadraini third and fourth, respectively. Whirla Lee, Miss Break, Swell Dish, Princess Lygia, Espy and Hadraini are all candidates for the Miss America. In addition to Whirla Lee, Princess Lygia, Miss Break and Swell Dish, Mrs. H. G. Bockmans Fancy Step, Brown Hotel Stables Hardnt Orter, Leslie Combs Linden Lane, Mrs. Emil Denemarks Hi-Decker, Dixianas Rock Garden, Mrs. L. J. Hermanns Bloom, T. Martoranos Cho Cho San, and P. Youkilis* Elane Ruth have all won races as freshmen.
