Bra yes Shutout Bucs, 5-0 On Bickfords Five-Hitter BOSTON, Mass., June 7, UP.— Vern Bickford hurled his third shutout of the season today as the Braves blanked the Pirates 5 to 0 and entered a tie for fourth place with the Giants in the National League. In posting his eighth victory of 1951 as against five setbacks, Bickford permitted only six scattered hits and walked but two batters, Pirate slugger Ralph Kiner twice reaching first as the result of passes." Just one Pittsburgh player advanced to .third, Hank Schenz landing on that bag in the eighth. The Braves garnered 10 hits off three Pittsburgh hurlers, starter Mel Queen and his two successors, Jim Walsh and Bob Friend.
