Enter Eleven-Horse Field In Aurora Trotting Derby Gene Long and Jerry A. Hanoyer Main Contenders in ,000 Test AURORA DOWNS, Aurora, 111., June 7. — Its Derby Night at Aurora Downs Friday night! Eleven of the fastest trotters in the Mid-West will vie for recognition inthe-annual ,000 Aurora Downs Trotting -Derby; The stellar attraction is on the eve of Auroras final night of harness racing for the 1951 season. - Heres the field in the order of draw for the initial mile: Black Key, Joe Donlin, Gene Long, Jerry A. Hanover, Moses, Jeffrey Hanover, Oh Johnny, Spud Hart, Pay Up, Private Pat and Fay Scott. Spud Hart, who registered the fastest trotting mile of the season with a 2:06% performance his last outing, may be bypassed as the publics choice. Shortly after his tremendous effort, Spud Hart suffered an injured leg and there was doubtvas to whether he would start at all. Buck Lamb will pilot SpUd Hart in as much as Harry Burright has Jerry A. Hanover in the same event. Since there is that possibility that Spud Hart hasnt fully recovered, the favorite role is likely to be divided between Gene Long and Jerry A. Hanoyer. Gene Long, owned by V. Spencer, Belvidere, HI., and handled by C. J. Rumley, came to life on June 2 and won both halves of the free-for-all in 2:07% and 2:08%. On the basis of these performances Gene Long may get the edge over Jerry A. Hanover, who finished 3-2 in the same event. Jerry A. Hanover, owned and reined by Harry Burright, has the, second best trotting mile this meeting. On, May 19 he covered the course in 2:06% and was breezing at the finish. Should Jerry A. Hanover return to his former form, the seven-year-old Spud Hanover gelding_is capable of taking home all the bacon. Jeffrey Hanover is given the role of the "dark horse" in the Derby. Last season he was the toughest in the West, but to date lameness has forced the seven-year-old Junior Hanover gelding to start but four times this meeting. If Walter "Pee Wee" Welch has Jeffrey Hanover back in shape he can leave daylight between . the field when starter Ralph Estes says "go." The Livingston Stable has entered two trotters, Joe Donlin and Private Pat, and will start as an entry. Joe Donlin, with a 2:03 record on a mile track, has capabilities of upsetting the field. The five-year-old Volomite horse, beat this field of trotters last season. Harry Livingston will be in the sulky behind Joe Donlin, with son Ned guiding Private Pat. Racing fans have but Friday and Saturday to witness top harness racing at Aurora Downs, in the, heart of the Fox River Valley,
