Ruth Lily Scheduled to Make Arlington Bow in Cleopatra Winner of Hollywood Oaks T Leaving Coast Today; Three ■Stakes to. Close Tomorrow Old English Ranchos diminutive speedster, Ruth Lily, has been named for the J Cleopatra Stakes, second of three added-money events featured in the opening week of the Silver Jubilee season at Arlington Park, which opens June 18. Nominations close tomorrow, June 9, for the 5,000-added, six-furlong Myrtlewood Handicap for three-year-olds and upward, to be raced on opening day; the three-quarter-mile Cleopatra* for sophomore fillies, to be run on Wednesday, June 20, and the 5,000-added Equipoise Mile for three-year-olds arid upward, to be contested Saturday, June 23. Already in the line-up for the Myrtle-wood are Hasty House Farms Crete Handicap winner, Roman Bath, and Wine List, winner of the recent. Edward J. Fleming Memorial Handicap. Mrs. Helen S. Reine-man has named her six-year-old handicap performer, Carrara Marble, who will be making his second try in the Myrtlewood. He was third behind Prop and Porters Broom in the 1950 renewal. Another Reineman eligible is the six-year-old gelding, Eagle River, who has not won a stake this year, but ran a dead heat with I Will in the 1950 Princeton Handicap. Other early entries include Breezy Crest Stables 1950 Midwest Handicap winner, Yellmantown, and Valley View Farms Badger and Sabaean. Ranking Fillies Successful in Stake Ruth Lily, owned by E. B. Johnston and Ted N. Tepper, is scheduled to leave California for- the Arlington Park oval today. The Cleopatra carries great import for three-year-old fillies at this season, having been won in the last three renewals by Bewitch, Two Lea and Heres Hoping: .Two Lea was the co-champion of her sex and age in 1949, and Heres Hoping was one of the ranking fillies of 1950. Ruth Lily won her first 1951 stake when A. G- Vanderbilts Sweet Talk was disqualified for bumping in the Santa Susana Stakes. Then on June 2 she defeated Miss Traffic and Royal Mink to carry off first money in the Hollywood Oaks. Other early nominations to the Cleopatra include Mrs. Ada L. Rices Bull Lea filly, Beauty Treat. . Not yet on the list, but possible last-minute nominations may include Duval Headleys 1950 fiUy champion, Aunt Jinny, and Clarence Hartwicks Sickles Image, both of whom are already in training at Arlington Park. The 5,000-added Equipoise Mile, feature of the first week, has already drawn an able group of handicap performers headed by Hasty House Farms quartet of Roman Bath, Wine List, Inseparable and Seaward. Valley View Farm has named Sabaean, who finished second in the Crete, and Mrs. Ada L. Rice has named Model Cadet and Danada Gift. Eagle River is also eligible for this event. I J.
