J. Francis McDermorr Reigns As 58th King of Ak-Sar-Ben AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha, Nebr., June 10. — J. Francis McDermott, the 58th and reigning king of Ak-Sar-Ben, will headline a week of special events at the Ak-Sar-Ben track where the Omaha civic organization s 35-day meeting now is in its fourth week. Mr. McDermott, who was crowned king of Ak-Sar-Ben last fall in recognition of his civic and charitable contributions, in business life is senior vice-president and director of the First National Bank of Omaha. On Wednesday, June 11th, he will serve as honorary steward for the annual running of the Ak-Sar-Ben Kings Plate Handicap, a ,000 event for three-year-olds and upward over a distance of one mile and 70 yards. Mr. McDermott, in addition to serving in the stewards stand, will present the silver Kings Plate to the winning owner in the handicap.
