Fairmount Racing Halted As Severe Storm Hits Plant FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 10. — A severe rain and wind storm that hit this area last night brought a halt to racing at Fairmount Park. Tonights program was canceled and just when racing wiU be resumed will not be known until after officials of the track confer here this evening. The wind was of such proportions that the entire roof of the grandstand was blown off and crashed through portions of the mutuel department. The extent of the damage and the time necessary for replacement was to be definitely established at the meeting of officials, which was in progress as this newspaper went to press. As Fairmount Park races on a five-night-a-week schedule, there was no activity at the plant when the storm, in all its fury, descended upon the area.
