Arlingtons Fashionable Post and Paddock Club to Have Double Opening This Year First of Summer Balls to Be * Held on Saturday for Benefit Of The Chicago Boys Clubs Laurance H. Armour, the perennial president of the Post and Paddock Club, is highly elated over the prospects for the 1952 season that will open Monday, June 16, and close Saturday, July 26. This year tne exclusive affiliate of the Arlington Park Jockey Club will have a double opening. For on Saturday June 14, the first of the annual "Summer Balls" will be held there for the benefit of The Chicago Boys Clubs, under the auspices of The Womens Board. Mrs. Edmond Shee-han is president of The Womens Board and Mrs. Leonard Florsheim is chairman of the ball. "We hope" says Mrs. Florsheim "to make this as lovely an annual affair as the ball they have at Belmont." Mrs. Warren Wright is underwriting the expense of the dinner. Cocktails are announced for 7 p. m. and dinner will be served at 9 oclock. No lovelier setting for a midsummer fete can be imagined than the Post and Paddock. The club, a jewel of architecture and decor, is set in the midst of highly wooded terrain, with lagoons and hundreds of thousands of colorful and fragrant flowers. Guests will be limited to 500 tables. Mr. and Mrs. Armour will have their customary luncheon party at Arlingtons opening as will the James B. McCaheys, Mrs. H. H. Lobdell, Mrs. B. L. Atwater, Mr. and Mrs. John B. Gallagher, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Florsheim, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bering whose party will include Major and Mrs. Ednyfed Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Siragosa, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Loftus, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Galvin, Mr. and Mrs. Max Pray, Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Block, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Sethness, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Cox Atwater, George Russell Carr, and Mrs. Benjamin R. Brown. Benjamin F. Lindheimer is executive director of both Arlington and Washington Park racing plants. His daughter, Miss Marjorie A. Lindheimer, is assistant executive director. John Denby Allen is. president of Arlington Park Jockey Club. The president of the Post and Paddock Club is Laurance Armour. Thomas E. Wilson is vice-president, Lawrence F. Stern, secretary and John B. Gallagher, treasurer. Including these officers the directors of the Post and Paddock are Britton I. Budd, George R. Carr, Charles S. Pearce, Marshall Field, Jr, James L. Simpson, Jr, Weymouth Kirkland, Mr. Lindheimer, John S. Knight and Leonard Florsheim. John Denby Allen is president of Arlington Park Jockey Club; vice presidents are Graham Smith and John B. Gallagher; secretary Eugene E. Murphy and treasurer, Daniel F. Rice. Directors include these gentlemen, ex officio, and Mr. Lindheimer and Miss Lindheimer; Ralph L. Atlass, A. G. Cox Atwater, Henry Bartholomay, Jerome P. Bowes, Paul Butler, George R. Carr, Hubert E. Howard, John G. McCarthy, Edward P. Morse; Richard M. Moss of St. Louis, Mo., Eugene E. Murphy, A. D. Pla-mondon, Jr., Modie Spiegel, Jr., and Henry Straus.
