GREAT NECK broke alertly, was taken back off the pace and steadied to the final quarter mile, regained command and withstood a sustained stretch drive. BRAVE LASS, never far off the pace, closed willingly under pressure. JAKABLOM rallied mildly in the late stages. MASTER BRIAN improved position gradually, but was unable to menace. BIG BRASS was sent to the front soon after the start, raced wide down the backstretch and opened a comfortable lead, then quit. GREAT SUN went evenly. CHINAWARE was unable to keep up. DEBMODE raced close to the pace for a quarter mile, moved into command when roused and prevailed over CHINA COLLEEN. The latter rushed boldly on the final turn, neared the leader and appeared to hang. HASHER, sluggish in the early stages, was guided to the outside in the stretch and closed with good energy. PORTENTOUS slipped through along the inside to engage for command and faltered. FIREWOOD caught tiring horses. RIP SNORT challenged mildly entering the stretch and flattened out. ANNA lacked a rally in the late stages. MISS HEIDI lacked early speed and failed to respond through the stretch. COMMITMENT quit. IFIDO, shuffled back at the start, moved quickly to gain a forward position before reaching the turn, slipped through along the inside to gain command, drew out and prevailed over BEV G. The latter, quickest to begin, went along with the pace throughout, swerved lightly through the stretch and was pressing the winner. ROSES ACE, sluggish in the early stages, closed with good energy through the stretch. BRIGHT KITCHEN showed good speed and held on well. FIRST PENNY displayed speed for a quarter mile. DANCING MAN improved position gradually, moved to the outside in the stretch and closed with good energy to draw clear. LIBERTY ANDY slipped through along the inside to get the lead in the stretch, but was not good enough. CAMBETTA, forwardly placed from the beginning, failed to respond to late urging. MONA J closed well between horses. BEST DEGREE forced the pace most of the trip, but weakened at the end. ICE CAP lacked early speed. QUEEN ZAC showed good speed for a half mile. The latter improved position gradually, rallying in the final quarter mile, but was not good enough. SEABRIGHT, steadied within striking distance of the pace, flattened out when set down. SILENT MIRTH caught tiring horses. COUNT EASTER was unable to menace with a late rally. WENTWORTH weakened after racing close to the pace for six furlongs. RUNYON FUND was never prominent. TRIPLE TIME showed good speed from the start, remained in close attendance of the pace until the final furlong, rallied under stout urging and edged away from KEEPING POSTED at the end. KEEPING POSTED, showing sudden improvement, set a rapid pace throughout and held on tenaciously to prove best of the others. TOP BRASS caught tiring horses with a late rush. PSYCHOGENIC, placed under steadying restraint, failed to rally when placed under pressure. M0LLIE FAGAN had no mishap. MAN BAR, slow to start, was unable to threaten with a late rally. GOYONOER raced wide most of the trip. PINE VILLE flashed brief speed. The others were outrun. Scratched— Way Home, 102. IN TASTE ranged up on the outside entering the stretch, was unable to reach the leader and faltered. FLY AROUND had no mishap. IDIO stopped after failing to get the early lead. FARM MAID raced in closest attendance of the pace for six furlongs and weakened. QUIZ ME, never far off the pace under restraint until the final quarter mile, lacked racing room along the inside. MARGARET B. outran the field to set the pace for six furlongs, then tired. GILDSIE flattened out when put to pressure. PRINCESS NANCY showed nothing. DOT H. tired.
