Navy sailed home to a three-quarter length victory in the featured Aspinwall Purse here today, staving off the last-ditch challenge by J. and P. Venutis Argyle. Two lengths farther back was A. Crabbes Hit Parade, who came from the rear to finish third. Under Carlos DeMello, who was applying the whip with vigor in the last eighth, U. S. Navy paid .40 as a stout choice with the crowd of 9,292 that turned out in a cool and windy afternoon. The Aspinwall was run in 1:11 for the six furlongs. The winner, a dark brown mare by Knights Caprice— Us, has been a stalwart in the sprinting ranks around here the last few years. She was making her second start of the year in this race; in her first outing she tired after setting her usual pace.
