Earls Texas Blues, given a strong ride by apprentice Norman Hart, scored a two and a half lengths decision in the sixth race here this afternoon. Lady Carrie was second, three parts of a length before Hurstland. The winner returned .40 and covered the seven furlongs in 1:3025 over a muddy track. It was another dark, damp, threatening afternoon, but a fairly good crowd of 3,750 turned out. Through the sixth race a trio of favorites had won. Texas Blues was fifth when starter Anthony dispatched the field. Gerties Last broke first and around the clubhouse turn opened a two-length lead with the ultimate winner third, while between horses. On the straightaway of the backstretch, Texas Blues moved along nicely and entering the far turn moved around Gerties Last to gain a two and a half lengths advantage. Through the front stretch, Texas Blues maintained her margin to win her third race of 1953.
