Smileys Condition Fair BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y„ May 14. — The condition of steeplechase jockey James Smiley, who suffered head injuries when Marvina K. fell in yesterdays hurdle race, was reported as "fair" today. The veteran was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica immediately after the spill and did not recover consciousness until after reaching the hospital, where he was found to be suffering from a severe concussion, involving some brain injury. Smiley was on thee ritical list last night, but his condition was somewhat improved.
