♦ I Possibility of Crete Running in Sections Spur On and Happy Go Lucky Expected to Be Starting Highweights at 1 18 Pounds HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 14.— Following racing secretary L. C. Bogen-schutzs announcement of weights for the Crete Inaugural Handicap, there were increased possibilities today that Lincoln Fields opening day feature at Hawthorne next Monday will be run in two divisions. The answer to the question of splitting the first stakes race of the Illinois season will come, of course, through the entry box Saturday when it is ascertained how many of the 46 nominees are entered. Twenty-eight of the 46 nominees are included in 12 stable entries consisting of more than one horse each. This suggests the possibility of some owner winning both divisions of the six-furlong event if it is split. Nineteen of the eligibles are stakes winners, while numerous others have raced creditably in stakes. Altogether, the subscription list not only is the largest, but one of the strongest ever turned in for the Crete Handicap, which had its inaugural running in 1926. Weight Spread of 17 Pounds The weight spread of 17 pounds ranges from Pet Bullys 120 pounds to the 103 impost assigned to Model Quest. Incidentally, both the top and bottom weights are owned by Mrs. Ada L. Rice. Red and Green Stables Andy B. W. drew the second highest impost, 119 pounds. Highweights among the more probable starters, however, are B. W. Landys Spur On and H. G. Bock-mans Happy Go Lucky, each with 118. L. J. Hollenbachs consistent Eljay has 117 pounds. Landy also has nominated Unbridled, 110, and Cullerton, 108, while Bockman has named Mail From Home, 107, in addition to Happy Go Lucky. Sam E.
