Elect Six New Members To The Jockey Club Total Membership at 55 for First Time in More Than Half Century BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 14. — Six new members were elected at todays regular monthly meeting of The Jockey Club, held at Belmont Park. These elections brought the total membership in the club to 55, the first time in its more than half a century it has had more than 50 members. Those coming in are from four states in this country and one member from Canada. The new members include Dr. Eslie As-bury, of Cincinnati, Ohio, long known as i j an owner and breeder, particularly in Kentucky; Mr. Amory Haskell, of New Jersey, president of the United Hunts and of Monmouth Park, and for a good many years president of the National Horse Show; Mr. John Schiff, of New York, who has raced horses over jumps and on the flat for some years, and is himself a polo player and a member of the Meadowbrook fox hounds; Reeve Schley, vice-president of the Chase Bank, and a member of Yale University, at whose estate at Far Hills, the New Jersey Hunt Cup, one of the most famous amateur steeplechases, was run for a number of years; E. P. Taylor, of Toronto, who has raced here for the past several years, and who has been the owner of the outstanding Canadian horses for the past two seasons. The best known of his current horses is Navy Page and Canadiana. Bayard Tuck-erman, Jr.. of Massachusetts, also with a long record of racing throughout eastern thoroughbred circles.
