Peoples Now Passmores Asst DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 19. — Steeplechase jockey Charles Peoples has retired from the saddle and is now assistant trainer to William Passmore, who handles the strings of Mr, and Mrs. Bayard Sharp. Peoples broke into racing about 10 year ago with the Sharp stable as an exercise boy, and after several years of the usual stable chores, began riding steeplechasers. His most successful year was in 1946 when he won the Chevy Chase at Laurel aboard F. D. Adams Refugio* He rode* eight winners that year and his mounts earned 0,315. The Sharp stable has been split into two divisions, with Pass-more handling those now at Monmouth Park, and Peoples looking after the group stabled here.
