Dempsey Wont Referee Moore-Maxim Title Bout OGDEN, Utah, June 19 UP. — Jack : Dempsey, former world heavyweight champion, today withdrew as a possible referee for the Archie Moore-Joey Maxim light-heavyweight title bout here on June 24. Dempsey, who was third man in the ring f at the Ezzard Charles-Rex Layne fight last t year, said he would attend the battle, but t only as a spectator. He gave no explanation for his withdrawal.
