Y.,v June 19 UP.- Lefthanded Ted Gray scored his first victory of the. year after nine straight losses today as the Detroit Tigers rebounded from their fearful shellacking in Boston with an uphill 3-2 triumph over the New York Yankees. Gray struck out five and held the Yankees to five hits. However, the slender southpaw trailed 2-0 after four innings as a result of Gene Woodlings two-run home run. Jim Delsing overcame that margin single-handedly by hammering successive home runs in the fifth and seventh innings off starter and loser Bob Kuzava. After Delsings second homr, Kuzava retired Don Lund and Johnny Bucha but then Gray singled and Kuzava gave way to Ray Scarborough. Harvey Kuenn and Gerry Priddy hit Scarborough for successive singles to drive in Gray with the winning run.
