Apprentice Mayer Makes First Winner for Sure This Time CRANWOOD PARK, Warrensville Heights, OhiOi June 19. — Apprentice Jimmy Mayer had to wait 24 hours before he officially broke his maiden but he claims it was worth waiting for. The youth won with Brown Pat in the ninth race on Wednesday only to have his number taken down, but yesterday he made no mistakes and won the last event while astride Sir Gamble. When he came back to the scales to weigh in some of the fans assembled near the rail good naturely yelled "foul," but Mayer took it all in stride. Mayer looks very good on a horse and veteran observers here at Cranwood predict a bright future for the lad whose services have been leased by J. R. Carlock for the next few months.
