RIBBED was close up while under stout restraint for six furlongs, came between the leaders to assume command on the final turn, drew clear and maintained the advantage under steady pressure. PROFESSOR JOE worked his way up between horses, swung outside for the drive and finished stoutly. SAILING HIGH rallied when put ot pressure and finished stoutly. RED DESIGN forced the pace, gained command on the far turn, then gave way and weakened steadily. WELL WELL was unable to make up appreciable ground along the inside. CALLUNA had no mishap. INTERMITTENT, reserved off the pace under steadying restraint until the final quarter mile, swung to the outside in the stretch, responded willingly to gain command and drew clear. PROMPT BOY was hustled to gain the early lead, gave way after six furlongs, regained command when put to a drive, but was no match for the winner and bore over sharply at the end, nearly hitting SPIDER ROCK. The latter worked his way up along the inside to take the early lead, saved ground on the turns, then weakened and was tiring at the finish. LETS DANCE caught tiring horses. PONTALBA went evenly. REYNOLDS JR. "saved ground to no avail. FINCHHAVEN lacked a closing rally. SAILING HOME was through early. The others were outrun. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of PROMPT BOY was not allowed. Scratched— 89143 Curruhuinca, 112; 89332 Point Up, 107. Overweight— Finchhaven, 3 pounds. Intermittent claimed by L. 0.
