Hasty Road Leaves Today For Pimlico and Preakness Derby Runner-Up Will Start in Prep Event Monday in Maryland By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 10. Hasty House Farms Hasty Road, fast son of Roman and Traffic Court, gets away for Pimlico at an early hour Tuesday and he probably will be in the Preakness Stakes starting field on Saturday, May 22. Allie E. Reuben, who with Mrs. Reuben, maintains the Hasty House establishment, conferred with trainer Harry Trotsek after the latters return Sunday from the Maryland course and they immediately decided to give their star a chance at the rich Preakness prize. The handsome colt visited the fast track here this morning and breezed three-eighths mile in :37, a drill which was quite satisfactory to his connections. Hasty Road, game winner over Determine in the Derby Trial, in which event he established a new eight-furlong track record of 1:35, and a strong second in the Kentucky Derby, certainly should go well in the mile and three-sixteenths Pimlico fixture, providing he likes the Baltimore course footing. Hasty Road has always shown a definite dislike for deep-cushioned tracks. Hasty Road will have three traveling companions on his jaunt to Pimlico; Inseparable, a noted turf course performer; the flashy three-year-old filly, Queen Hopeful, and the Argentine-bred Mister Black, who set a new track record at Keeneland April 27 while taking the Ben Ali Handicap. Walmac Farms Hasseyampa, who gave a splendid performance while finishing third in the Kentucky Derby, also was out for a trial during the training period today and he breezed one mile in 1:43, accompanied by the stakes-winning mare, Gala Fete. Trainer Howard Wells, of the Walmac forces, was satisfied with the move and Hasseyampa will journey to Pimlico following the close of Churchill Downs meet. Hasseyampa, second to Goyamo in the Blue Grass Stakes, and victor in Keene-lands Scarlet Gate Purse, is one of the most improved three-year-olds in training and his game Derby effort earned him a Preakness starting berth, which came about after R. W. Mcllvain paid the ,500 supplementary fee. The Walmac Farm colt will be ridden by jockey Arnold Kirkland in the Maryland stake, according to trainer Wells.
