MIST GRAY worked his way up on the outside to gain the lead entering the stretch and was under steady pressure to outfinish SAUGATUCK. The latter forced the pace from the outset, saved ground throughout and was catching the winner in the final yards. MARILU DORSETT closed with a belated rush on the extreme outside. DEFENCE COUNSEL opened a clear lead at once, dominated the pace for six furlongs and weakened. RED PASS was unable to keep up. LOW SKY showed nothing. JOE HASTE was through early.
