Lou Fredrick Dies at 79 GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 10. Word was received here of the death early today of Lou Fredrick in Good Samaritan Hospital, Brooklyn. Fredrick, wha would have been 79 on Memorial Day, was a member of Riggs Mahonys mutuel staff and had been associated with racing for 60 years. His father was a bookmaker in the old days of Sheepshead Bay, Graves-end and other tracks of that era and Fredrick entered the sport on the New York tracks as a sheet writer. With the advent of mutuels he joined the late Mort Mahony and had been associated with mutuel operations for 40 years. He was an odds-man at all the Maryland tracks, later moving to New Jersey tracks when .racing was revived here in 1942. He was employed in a similar capacity at Belmont and Saratoga when mutuels first came to New York and also worked at Hialeah and Gulfstream.
