Odds on Ambler II. Drop To 5-to-l for Epsom Derby LONDON, England Reuters, May 10. Odds-on William Woodward Jr.s American-bred favorite, Ambler IE., shrank to 5 to 1 at the Victoria Club callover here on the Epsom classic. Ambler n. had his first fast workout over the full Derby distance 12 furlongs at Newmarket last Saturday. In a satisfactory though not outstanding spin, Capt. Cecil Boyd-Rochfort probably satisfied himself that Ambler II. is competent for the distance which was confirmed. Ambler n.s next race probably will be the Derby Trial Stakes at Longfield Park, Sussex next Friday. The Irish-bred Blue Sail, whose Derby rider is expected to be the American ace, Johnny Longden, was supported by 8,000 to win at tonights callover session. His odds contracted to 100 to 6. Twenties were available last week. A newcomer to the market was Ralph B. Strassburgers French-trained colt, An-tares. Antares, an impressive winner in his only race so far, was mildly supported at 25 to 1. Closing prices were Ambler II., 5 to 1; Darius, 8 to 1; Ferriol, 9 to 1; Rowston Manor, 100 to 8; Arabian Night, 100 to 8; Infatuation, 100 to 7; Elopment, 100 to 7; Blue Sail, 100 to 6; Apenhorn, 22 to 1; Lets Fly, Court Splendour, Damelot and Antares, 25 to 1; Blue Rod, 33 to 1; By Thunder, 33 to 1; Lavengro and Moonlight Express, 40 to 1.
