Roaring Bull Set For Another Tally Victor in Last Tyo Starts At Laurel and Pimlico Has Five Rivals in Pikesville PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., May 10. Brookmeade Stables Roaring Bull seeks his second win of the meeting when he competes tomorrow afternoon in the feature mile and one-sixteenth Pikesville Purse, for four-year-olds and upward. Named to op pose the Bull Lea gelding are Carl M. Grahams Wabash Moon, M. R. Hamars Lotus Eater, W. W. Waters Bea Marony, Mrs. C. P. Dencklas Songai and Emerald Hill Stables Blue Shore. Roaring Bull carries a two-race victory skein into the Pikesville, having won in 1:47 here over Tip n. and Rare Knave after having vanquished his Laurel foes in 1:45 at the same distance. In the Laurel effort he took the measure of Pampas Beauty, Best Air and others in rather impressive fashion. In his local triumph, the Brookmeade colorbearer had little or no trouble and left Bea Marony more than a half dozen lengths behind him, which would seem to eliminate that rival from contention in the Pikesville. Two of the Pikesville starters Wabash Moon and Lotus Eater last raced in the seven-furlong Bowie Handicap, in which Eatontown established a new track record of 1:23. Wabash Moon was beaten seven and a half lengths while finishing sixth and held a one-length advantage over Lotus Eater, the seventh finisher. Wabash Moon .was making her second start of the year and seems likely to improve off the race. Lotus Eater, too, could improve with the additional distance, for it was over the mile and a sixteenth route that he was victorious at Laurel. Songai Raced Poorly on Turf Songai turned in a dull effort over the turf here Saturday and prior to that was fifth behind Eatontown in overnight com- petition. The latter event was Songais first start of the year. Blue Shore will be making his seasonal debut in the Pikesville. He won but a single race in 14 starts last year but spring training indicates that he may be a bit more proficient this season. Supporting race on tomorrows card is the mile and a sixteenth Towson Purse, designed for three-year-olds. In the overnight line-up is Howard A. Jones For Free, who is still considered a possibility for the Preakness on May 22. For Free, a Four Freedoms colt, turned in a bang-up effort to be second in Laurels Chesapeake Stakes, following which he was transferred to Kentucky with the Derby in view. He failed to impress in the Blue Grass, however, and competed in overnight company in his only other start at Churchill Downs, finishing second behind Woodvale Farms Fancy Diver. Opposing For Free in the Towson will be a mediocre field including Fays Reaper, Royal Fan, Swift Steve, Midian, Vasco Da Gama and Parlor .Pink. None of the group has shown enough to indicate the ability of handling a colt the caliber of For Free.
