LOCKSTITCH moved close to the pace along the inside before three furlongs, was sent between horses and into command entering the stretch and drew out steadily under intermittent urging. IRONHEARTED assumed command soon after the start, dominated the pace until the final turn and held on courageously after giving way. GWEN moved up on the outside to engage the leaders and faltered. GOLD QUEST raced close to the pace throughout and had no mishap. KAREN L. broke sluggishly, came inside in the drive, but was unable to menace. WILL TRAVEL showed speed for a half mile. SWEETEST MUSIC had no mishap. GELINKA went evenly. EASY BELLE was unable to keep up. SUN RUSHER gained a forward position soon after the start, was steadied until the final quarter mile, moved up and assumed command, then drew out steadily. THE PHEASANT, never far off the pace, rallied to challenge in the drive, but was not good enough. AUNT DINAH went out on the lead to set a rapid pace and weakened slightly in the final furlong. NANCY ELLEN K. bettered .her late position along the inside. MISS MELISS had no mishap. CARYS HOPE lacked a -late rally. XIPPI PIGEON, in hand tothe final quarter mile, was unable to make up appreciable ground. BASSINGTON was unable to keep up. HELLO PUDGY dropped back soon after the start and was never a factor. ORNUM, in hand while kept within striking distance of the pace, slipped through along the inside and into command, drew out and had to be hustled to stave off the bid of AMYN BEY. The latter was impeded leaving the gate, dropped far off the pace, was roused entering the stretch and" closed stoutly. INDIAN PIPE, a forward factor, had no mishap. TERRACE saved ground throughout in an even effort. IN THE BOOK lacked a late rally. HELENTAR broke lo the outside leaving the barrier, was sent up fast on the outside, to enter contention, weakened and swerved in the late stages. JERRY M., steadied within striking distance of the pace, moved with a rush nearing the final turn, continued to gain on the outside, assumed command and moved over to the inside and drew out. COLONEL SEVEN opened a commanding lead at once, set a rapid pace and had nothing left at the end. LITTLE AUD, under stout restraint along the inside, rallied when set down through the stretch, but was not good enough. ASH TRAY, close, up and under stout restraint on the outside, failed to respond to late urging. DEBMODE had no mishap. MOSEID was unable to menace when sent up along the inside in the late stages. BLESSBULL moved clear at once and was taken in hand until nearing the far turn, increased the advantage when roused, came out in the stretch and maintained the advantage under a steady hand ride. ROYAL BATTLE, a forward factor on the .outside, was sent up closer to the leader rounding the far turn, placed under stout pressure into the stretch but was unable to menace the leader. SWITCH ON, unable to go along with the leaders, rallied mildly in the late stages. BRISUET raced in closest attendance of the leader for five furlongs, retired steadily after failing to make up ground under pressure. JOES CREST and KING FOR ALL were never prominent.
