Pet Bully Can Duplicate Royal Governors Feat Seeking Wilmington-Brandywine Double Oyer Ten Delaware Foes By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 29. — Delaware Parks holiday program features " the seventeenth running of the 0,000-added Brandywine Handicap, a test of a mile and one-sixteenth for three-year-olds and upward. Included in the overnight line-up is Mrs. Ada L. Rices Pet Bully under 124 pounds, but his status is doubtful, due largely to the fact that he was also entered in Saturdays Wilmington Handicap, in which he seems more likely to compete should the track be in a fast condition. Behind Pet Bully in the weights is Cornelius V. Whitneys Cold Command, under a 1 14 -pound burden. This fellow will race coupled with Fly Wheel, who seems favorably treated under 109 pounds. Others in the Brandywine are Mrs. J. R. H. Thourons Royal Governor, 115; Brookmeade Stables First Aid, 113; Harry. B. Cohens Buck n. Roy N McClarins Spring Grove, 104, and King Ranchs Beylerbey, 103 pounds. Fet Bully, should he compete in the Brandywine, should prove quite formidable, for he boasts three consecutive victories since launching his eastern campaign. The third score in that string was accomplished in the Valley Force at Garden State, following which he was given a brief respite. The ten-year-old Royal Governor, who turned in a feat never before accomplished here when, in 1949 he won the Wilmington and Brandywine handicaps over the holiday week end, will strive for another rich purse Monday. He established a new American turf course record for a mile and three furlongs in his last start, that being his third • success of the year over such footing. Cold Command and Fly Wheel come up to the Brandywine in excellent condition, as evidenced by their most recent engagements. Cold Command was beaten off by White Skies in the Roseben, but was racing well in the late stages. Possibly his best race of the year was a third in the Pau-mpnok, in which White Skies was again the winner. Fly Wheel was successful in his most recent outing, beating allowance horses in 1:12% on the main course at Belmont. First Aid is another with excellent recommendations, having accounted for Bowies Southern Maryland for his lone victory of the year. He was last seen in action in the Roseben at Belmont and finished in a dead heat for second with Impasse, the pair being within striking distance of White Skies. The others in the Brandywine must be regarded as outsiders, though their light assignments must rate them some consideration. Spring Grove won his last outing and turned in his top effort when second in back of First Aid in the Southern Maryland. Dinner Winner has been second in both Laurel and Bowie and was third in the Capitol. Buck n Gee boasts a single victory in four other starts this season, while Beylerley and Khan will be seeking their initial scores of the season.
