COUNT ALEX was never far from the early leaders and, slipping through on the inside in the stretch, forged to the front near the end to pass UNCLE TOM and win drawing out. The latter had the most foot and set a good pace, but was unable to resist the winner, although holding on fairly well. VICTORIA CROSS finished with good coilrage under urging. SPRING KHAL moved fairly well around the stretch turn, but lacked much finishing strength. PLATITUDE tired in the last eighth EX-PERIMENTAL finished fast EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. WINNOWETTE was not too far from the pace in the first six furlongs, then gained gradually and, coming to the inside in, the stretch, found an opening to take command in the last sixteenth and easily drew away. BLUE ROGER improved his position on the outside in the last quarter and outlasted CAMPESINO. The latter weakened near the end. FLEET REWARD was used up making the pace and tired.
