Pet Bully Extends Victory Streak Wins Wilmington For Fourth in Row Downs Repetoire, Eatontown As Delaware Park Launches Meet Before 19,517 Patrons DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 28. — Shoulderng top weight of 126 pounds and overcoming crowding immediately after the start, Mrs. Ada L. Rices Pet Bully this afternoon accounted for the six-furlong Wilmington Handicap as Delaware Park launched its 32-day summer session. In equalling the race-record of 1:10%, the six-year-old son of Petrose — Camelina finished three-quarters of a length before Stanley C. Mikells Repetoire, who was a full length before Alfred Roberts Eatontown. With a record-breaking opening day throng of 19,517 in attendance, the session commenced in auspicious fashion, with the total handle exceeding ,000,000, a remarkable accomplishment considering that nearby Garden State was offering the rich Jersey Stakes. Pet Bully, under a smart ride by Willie Hartack, scored cleverly and returned .G0 as the punctual favorite. In stretching his current victory skein to four. Pet Bully picked up ,225 while handling his heaviest .impost. He carried 119 and 124 pounds in winning a pair of Bowie sprints, then successfully toted 117 pounds to victory in the mile and 70 yards Valley Forge, in which he took the measure | of Royal Vale. Penocc Breaks Alertly Mrs. Chester A. Lyons Penocc broke alertly from the chute but went to the inside, just as he has on several occasions. This moved Eatontown over on -Pet Bully, forcing Hartack to ease out of close quarters to avoid a possible spill. Unhurried along the backstretch, Pet Bully had but one horse beaten after a quarter mile, as Penocc was a length and a half clear, with Howell Jacksons Caesar Did, Repetoire, William P. Foleys Hunts-ville and Eatcntown heads apart for the runner-up position. Hartack, who is second only to Avelino Gomez among the countrys leading riders, displayed excellent judgment from that point as he steadily sent Pet Bully into contention from the outside, advancing to fourth position when straightened into the stretch. From that point to the finish it was evident that he was "awkins horse" as he moved by the leaders and cleverly increased his advantage in the closing sixteenth, stretching it to almost a length at the wire. Repetoire, after forging to the front at the furlong pole, was unable to cope with Pet Bully but displayed his old time courage to save the place over Eatontown, who was seeking a consecutive double in the Wilmington. Benefiting by conditioning received in his recent seasonal bow, Mrs. Zelda Cohens War Age carried his speed for six furlongs in the fifth race and took a three-way photo from Rokeby Stables V-Two and Brookmeade Stables War King. The three of them were heads apart at the wire, with the 0.40 War Age being caught in a rapid :10%. The winner was capably handled by Jimmy Stout, completing a double for that veteran booter.
