THREE HOOPS, alertly ridden from the break, raced on the inside of the leaders to move to the fore, opened a long lead to the furlong marker then, while winning as he pleased, drifted only slightly this time. GEMBOY made up ground steadily to midstretch, held on gamely in the final stages, but was no match for the winner. CATHYS GIRL closed some ground through the stretch. MY JOSEPHINE showed some late speed. HONEY BAY was not a serious threat. DEERLICK began alertly, but showed nothing thereafter. DEBBIE SMITH quit. Overweight— Rainy River, 5 pounds. OMABERRY, under light restraint early, circled the field entering the stretch turn to come around the leaders, rallied well in midstretch and was best of COLLEGE FLIRT at the end. The latter was in closest pursuit of MR. A. K. while on the inside of that one early, held a true course down the backstretch while saving ground, responded well again in the drive, reached the front very briefly inside the furlong marker while outgaming COUSIN BETTY, but could not withstand the winner.. QUEEN 0 NIGHT, out of it early, came through on the rail in the stretch run and showed the best late effort. COUSIN BETTY gave way some when headed by COLLEGE FLIRT. MR. A. K. brushed with COLLEGE FLIRT in midstretch while tiring and could not stay with the late speed. LEGGINGS was outrun. LADY DOGE had some early speed, but tired.
