COURTS MAUDE went to the front early and, going along steadily in front and although tiring near the end, was never in danger. CHICKS DELIGHT was closest to the leader all the way, but failed to threaten, and was also tiring at the end. COLUMBUS BOUND was badly outrun to the stretch, then came well on the inside and was gaining. OUR GIFT finished steadily. CHANCE CLOUD tired. POLTROON failed to be a contender. BE SWAYED was in close quarters right after the start and was taken up sharply. LEO P. McL. bolted to the outside fence nearing the finish when, beaten off. JAY EDWARD moved strongly nearing the stretch turn and, gaining gradually on the outside of EMERALD after entering the stretch, got to the front at midstretch and increased his advantage slowly thereafter. EMERALD headed the field around the far turn and, while weakening and unable to hold the winner, was best of the others. QUEEN APACHE was outrun early, but was going gamely at the end. BRASSY had early speed and entered the stretch on the inside, but lacked the power to come through, was then taken to the outside, but tired and swerved in the last sixteenth. FLEET FACTOR was outrun until the stretch was reached, then raced up strongly and, cutting to the inside of STOP CLOCKING entering the last sixteenth, took command to draw away under hard urging. The latter raced COPPER PLATE into submission and, although weakening in the final sixteenth/ was best of the rest. BABY BATTLER finished steadily to best WHIRL AWHILE. WHIRL AWHILE made a mild move nearing the stretch turn, but faded in the last eighth. HAPPY EAST was badly outpaced. COPPER PLATE was through after going a half mile. FOURTH RACE 5 FURLONGS. SWEET JOSIE began quickly from the inside position and, going gamely when challenged in the stretch by FUTURE ROMANCE, held the latter to the end to win under pressure. FUTURE ROMANCE, slow to get in stride, moved strongly on the outside after leaving the backstretch, then might have been bothered a trifle when SWEET JOSIE bore out slightly and wasv unable to get to the front and appeared to be weakening at the end. COUNTESS ANITA was badly outpaced to the stretch and finished fastest of all. THEATRICALADY finished steady. A TOUTE FORCE had early speed. The others were outpaced. HOPEIDO sprinted to the front early and widened on the field after leaving the backstretch to further increase her advantage in the stretch, but was shaken up near the end to make victory secure. FLEET ACE was in closest attendance throughout and easily held the others. TIDY SUM went evenly and finished with good courage. DREAM CREAM and RUSTUM were also going fairly well at the end. JUDGE BROWDEE was never too far from the pace and, moving strongly next to the rail in the stretch, found an opening on the inside of COUNTRY BUMKIN to take a short lead, bqt was doing his best to hold COLONEL FRU. The latter raced very wide in the stretch, but closed strongly beyond the center of the track. COUNTRY BUMKIN drew out steadily after leaving the backstretch and went fairly well to the end. NUMERICAL was outrun early, but closed with good courage. OIL PAINTING weakened after making a move nearing the stretch turn. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. POMACE got to the front early and was soon joined by LOOK OUT JEEP, then was eased back off the latter after leaving the backstretch and, coming to the outside nearing the stretch turn, again got to the front, but had to be hard ridden through the final sixteenth to withstand the bid of ARAB ACTRESS. The latter was steadied nicely in the early part and made an opportune move on the outside of POMACE in the stretch, but was unable to get up, although turning in a fine effort. BUGLE-DRUMS was outrun most of the way but finished with good courage to be best of the others. TUOSIX was outpaced early and failed to threaten at any stage. PAYTU was unable to keep up. BLUE LICKS trailed early and failed to make a move until the stretch was reached, then came fast and was gaining rapidly. TEXAS OIL was a forward contender all the way.
