Ferrol S. Seeks Repeat | In Beulah Final Feature Gayleo, Ball Hawk, Mr. Nealie to Test Governors Handicap Victor By W. A. CRUSE Staff Correspondent BEULAH PARK, Grove City, Ohio, May 29. — Beulah Parks nine-day spring meeting comes to close with the running of Mondays holiday program of nine races. A ,000 handicap event headlines the bill, while the secondary offering is the Decoration Day Purse. The handicap, for three-year-old and older horses, has a mile and one-sixteenth staging and eight accepted the weights allotted by racing secretary Eugene W. Bury. Top impost of 116 pounds goes to E. Sor-bers Ferol S., the winner of the Governors Handicap last Saturday. Next in consideration are F. M. Ashbys Ball Hawk, 114; P. H. Johnsons Gayleo, 110: George McFarlands Frisky Jimmy, 109; Ed Gollodays Pollys Knight, 108; Mrs. F. Baumans Mr. Nealie, 107; H. Rademaekers Fancy Feeling, 103, and the lightest impost of 102 pounds goes to Miss Rose Harris Cathoy Valley. Ferol S. is picking up seven pounds over what she carried to victory in the Governors Handicap. The Foray Array mare and jockey Billy Sackett were clocked the mile and one-sixteenth of that affair in 1:44 and had only a neck margin over C. Hart-wicks Red Sultan and jockey P. A. Ward. It was a nip and tuck battle from the furlong marker to the wire with each rider utilizing every available force and* was possibly one of the most exciting stretch "runs of the meeting. That was the first victory out of five starts for Ferol S. this year but she had been well tightened for the race with four preps in sprints over both a fast and a dull racetrack. The Decoration Day Purse shapes up as an equally interesting attraction even though for those campaigners which run with a price tag attached. This group is of either the ,500, ,250 or ,000 variety which are in the age group of four-year-old or older. They will compete at six furlongs for a portion of the ,200 purse and again it is difficult to ascertain a standout choice. Jack Hodges The Blue Goose has accomplished everything asked of her in the last two starts. She downed a solid group of Continued on Page Forty-Six Ferrol S. Following this victory she moved up into the ,600 class and was a half a length the best of Mrs. S. Sadov-skys Star Spangler. Jockey Norman Hart has ridden her to both victories and under his tutelage she may again be difficult to beat on Monday. Star Spangler, however, is to match strides again and it is quite probable that the Heather Broom gelding, too, will show I improvement off that race. While The Blue Goose is carrying the same weight as she did when she beat him the last time he is sheddinc nine pounds which should be a factor in his favor. Rounding out the field are F. Woods Foxy Sun, Shepard and Mortons Lot of Devil, Mrs. J. Bronnenbergs Sultaness, F. M. Ash-bys Holy Cats, W; Chapins Gray Battle, The L-Ray Stables Bit OProse and J. M. Harts King of Siam.
