Golden Gate Girl Draws 172 Two-Year-Old Fillies Alberta Ranches Top Nominator With Seven for Turkey Day Event ALBANY, Calif., June 4. A total of 172 two-year-old fillies have been nominated for the first running of the Golden Gate Girl on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, at Golden Gate Fields. This was disclosed today when racing secretary Barry Whitehead completed a check of nominations which closed last Saturday. The Golden Gate Girl, to be run at one mile, will be worth between 0,000 and 5,000, Whitehead estimates. The purse is 0,000 added. Alberta Ranches, Ltd., of Canada, topped the list with seven nominations. Entering five fillies eachwere H. H.- Helbush, Robert S. Lytle, MaineChance Farm and Clifford Mooers, while four nominess each were named by Neil S. McCarthy, W. W. Naylor, Parkhill Farm. W. L. Ranch Company and the Sneed Stock Farm. The Golden Gate Girl is carded as one of Golden Gate Fields twin features for two-year-olds in the 1954 fall meeting, the other being the Golden Gate Futurity to be run on Saturday, December 18, for 5,000 in added money at a mile. Among fillies nominated for the Golden Gate Girl were the Lincoln Stables Foster Sister, winner of the Junior League Stakes at Hollywood Park last Saturday, and Jovie K., the Black Gold Stables winner of the Sub-Deb Stakes at Bay Meadows this spring.
