Huntsville Turns Back Doc Walker at Monmouth Spoils Brady Colts Return to Action With Half-Length Score By FRED GALIANI MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 24.— W. P. Foleys Huntsville spoiled a triumphant return for James Cox Bradys Doc Walker in the featured Assembly Purse this afternoon, downing the favorite before a crowd of 11,800. Huntsville outbattled the pacemaking favorite down the stretch and went under the wire a half length to the good. Three-quarters of a length back was W. J. Waldens Hickory Hill. Bobby Stevenson piloted Huntsville, a fiye-year-old son of Pasteurize— Chuckle, who returned 5.40. The time for the mile and a sixteenth was 1:11 Vs. The afternoon was sunny and warm and the crowd was again over the corresponding day of last year. Doc Walker was made a strong favorite, despite the fact he had not been to the post since April of 1953. Huntsville moved up into the challengers spot, as Hickory Hill was racing along the rail. Doc Walker, who had an open lead of a couple of lengths at the turn, now had his margin diminished rapidly. Huntsville hove into view, passed the eighth pole while Hickory Hill had to wait for Huntsville to pass and was taken off the rail and came to the outside. Huntsville had Doc Walker measured in the last sixteenth and was gradually drawing away at the finish. Hickory Hill couldnt make up much ground, but still finished third as Brook Prince, who made a threatening move in the middle of the track, j hung slightly.
