Rinaldis Petes Playmate, an aged Head Play gelding, winner of the second race, resulted in a ,431.60 Daily Double. Jockey William Owen was in the saddle for Teddys Picnics victory and after going the six furlongs over the fast track in 1:12%, returned 5.00, 1.60 and .60 across the board as part of the field hi the betting. Jockey Anthony Licata, the second leading rider of the meeting to W. D. Lucas was astride Petes Playmate for his victory. The latter much overlooked in the betting, returned 5.80, 4.80 and .00 as the winner of the second event. The Daily Double wagering has become increasingly more popular this year than ever before at this spacious plant. The Double handle has showed a steady increase- from the beginning of the meeting and the "big" prices may have some bearing on this fact. This ,431.60 Double was the second large one of the first 18 days of the 44-day meeting. On June 14, Master Khan and Space Cadet returned ,075.40 as the winner of the first and second races, respectively. Master Khan was a dull seventh in the race won by Petes Playmate.
