SIR WALTER R, a keen factor from the outset, raced SUN IDOL BOY into defeat after entering the stretch and held on gamely to withstand GALENA. The latter, never far back, closed strongly when sent down through the stretch, but could not overtake the winner. VAMANOS gave a good effort and had no mishap. FAST COSMIC was unable to reach the leaders when set down in the drive. FAIR STRIKE lacked early speed. BIG DANCE began fast, raced forwardly placed to the stretch, then faltered. SUN IDOL BOY went to the front early, set the pace for a half mile while engaging SIR WALTER R., but failed to stay during the drive. BROWNSTOWN could not keep up. BARGAIN MISS showed nothing. PAJARA was far back throughout. NOWADAY GIRL gradually worked way forward to the stretch, responded to punishment during the drive and wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. CALICO CREEK, a sharp factor after the initial quarter mile, settled in the stretch with a clear advantage but was unable to withstand the top one, although much the best of the others. CHIMAPHILA gave a good effort and had no mishap. POLYCHREST lacked early foot but finished fast. AU SABLE raced forwardly placed to the final furlong, then faltered. BOOS COMET raced wide. MR. RAINES had early speed but drifted out during the last three-eighths mile and lost all chance. PLEASURE WITH wals never prominent. SAM VALLIER showed nothing. DAWNEY, sent between horses during the drive, could not get to the top one. COTRAMEL lacked early foot but finished fast under punishment. STONY POINT went to the front at once, made the pace to the last eighth mile, then gave way when challenged by BROWN MONK. SAM SLICK was outrun and had no excuse. The latter, outrun to the last quarter mile, finished strongly but could not overtake the winner. RIDDLETON was unable to better his position when set down through the stretch. FINE FIDDLE raced fbrwardly placed for a half mile, then weakened. ROYCE lacked early foot. HYPOSTYLE began poorly, losing all chance.
