SPIT N POLISH moved from off the pace to displace NOBLE LAD for the. lead, then held sway over SHINING JEFF. The latter rallied from just off the pace, but was not good enough. . BLUE QUEST broke tardily, raced wide and turned in a creditable effort. NOBLE LAD held a narrow advantage nearing the .stretch and weakened. PERSIAN CLAW gave way badly. J,IM DANDY showed nothing. NOW HEAR THIS WAS SCRATCHED WHEN HE WAS INJURED IN THE PADDOCK. ALL WAGERS ON HIM, INCLUDING THOSE IN THE DAILY DOUBLE, WERE REFUNDED. The latter attained command early, drew clear steadily to late stretch and Just failed to last. TRENTON SAND, apparent best, broke tardily, was rank during the running and made up considerable ground. SIR STAKE raced well placed to the furlong pole and weakened. CABLE BUG gave way. STAR PRINCE stopped badly through the final furlong. MR. MICHAEL S. showed nothing. BLUE ROCKET quit. Won ridden out; second and third driving. OURNAV raced in close attendance to the pace from the start, recovered well after being bumped, by SCOTCH KNIGHT, then wore down the leaders and drew clear. GWENYS WOW WOW saved ground while setting and pressing the pace- and -was no match for the winner through the stretch when his saddle slipped. MR. MOTION closed with good energy. DARLING DADDY loomed a threat when able to move through along the inside entering the stretch, but had no rally.
