Centennial Makes Ready For Fridays Inaugural Will Mark Fifth Racing Season At Colorado One Mile Course LTnUETON, Colo., June 28. While maintenance crews work around the clock to slick up -Centennials grandstand and grounds, horsemen are putting their charges through final drills for Fridays opening of the 50-day racing season here. Centennial Race Tracks fifth season will run from July 2 through September 11, and the pace of training activity has quickened steadily as te inaugural program draws near. First-day feature, the ,000 Littleton Speed Handicap at five furlongs, is expected to draw H. G. Wells Heno Sissy, Mrs. Max Petersons Winada, W. F. Hodges Lucky Post and other local favorites of past meetings. There will be racing three days over the holiday week end, Friday, Saturday and Monday. Post time will be 1:30 p. m. for Friday and Saturdays 10-race program and 1 oclock for the 11-race holiday card Monday, July 5. Gates will open at 11:30 a. m. Following the first week end, the track will be dark until Friday, July 9, when it will reopen on a regular five-day-a-week basis, with racing Tuesday through Saturday. First post of 1:30 p. m. will prevail. Thoroughbreds again will most of the action on the afternoon cards, but there will be at least one quarter-horse race, to be run as the fourth event each day. Special bus service from the Central Loop at 15th and Arapahoe in downtown Denver will go into effect from 11:30 a. m. to 1 p. m. each racing day. Stops include the Trailways Bus Center, near major hotels, at 17th and Broadway. Purses for the season will total more than 00,000. Other week-end features are Saturdays Park Lane Handicap and Mondays Centennial Handicap.
