Fascinator Works Clever Mile in 1:41 at Belmont Level Lea Indicates Readiness to Return to Races With Fast Move BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 28. Maine Chance Farms Fascinator, who was scratched from todays Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct, worked a clever mile in 1:41 on the main track here Sunday morning. The filly, who showed a return to form when finishing third to On Your Own and Evening Out jn the Gazelle, trying to give eight pounds to her rivals, is probably pointing for the 00,000 New Castle Handicap at Delaware on July 5, though the mile and a quarter doesnt appear to favor this miss. Fascinator was under a snug hold yesterday as she ripped off the fractions in :36, :48, 1:13, 1:27. W. Haggin Perrys Trying, an unbeaten daughter of Endeavour II., who won the Astoria Stakes last out, sped an impressive five furlongs in :59 Sunday morning under the watchful eye of Jack Skirvin. She needed no urging and galloped out an additional furlong in 1:13. Trying was shipped to Chicago today, along with Skir-vins other charges. This morning, John S. Phipps Level Lea, who won his first stake almost exactly a year ago when he took the Edgemere Handicap at Aqueduct, indicated this morri-that he is about ready to return to the races after a winter and spring on the sidelines. The handsome son of Bull Lea was clocked a handy five furlongs in :59. Level Lea is eligible to both the Carter and Brooklyn Handicaps here, but it is doubtful if he will be asked , to attempt such ambitious assignments without getting an overnight race under his girth. Incidentally, the main track here appeared extremely fast this morning. Trainer Max Hirsch also sent King Ranchs Lychnus a handy half in :46, while on Sunday morning, the same stables High Button went the same distance in Over on the training track, C. V. Whitneys Cold Command, who.was inadvertently left out of Saturdays Edgemere, went a handy six furlongs in 1:15 this morning. He is an eligible to the seven-furlong Cartel on July 5 and the Brooklyn at a mile and a quarter on July 10.
