Cahokia Downs to Receive Horses Starting Monday New Barn Increases East St. Louis Tracks Stall Capacity to 926 EAST ST. LOUIS, 111., June 21. Following announcement that Cahokia Downs will operate on a six-night a week basis for its meeting starting July 23 and extending through October 1, preparations are under way to receive horses starting next Monday, June 27. Orie additional barn has been built and it will accommodate 106 horses, bringing "The overall stall capacity to 926. Also included in recent additions to the new East Side plant is a new track kitchen of ultra-modern design which will accommodate 120 persons. The latest in dining facilities will be at the disposal of horsemen and track personnel. The kitchen is located directly to the rear of the barn area, but outside the grounds just a. short distance from the back gate. Jack Klucina, who will again serve as racing secretary at Cahokia, announced that applications for stalls have been care- ! fully screened and more than 400 applications have been approved thus far. Several applications have been placed on the waiting list, since every effort is being made to get the best class of thoroughbreds possible. Extensive landscaping has been completed, adding much beautification to the paddock area, centerfield and grounds adjoining the grandstand and clubhouse. Two months of work on the racing strip has it in excellent condition and the first horses are ready to gallop on the completely redressed oval in the next few days.
