Middlecoff Out of British Open ST. ANDREWS, Scotland, June 21 UP. Cary Middlecoff of Memphis, withdrew today from the British Open Golf Championship scheduled to start July 4 over the old and new courses at St. Andrews. Middlecoff notified the Royal and Ancient Club by cable today he would be unable to compete. Middlecoff was scheduled to tee off with David Beard of England July 4.
