The Lily-Ann Stables Getthere Jack heads a group of seven two-year-old colts and geldings named to contest the 63rd running of the Tremont Stakes, which headlines Wednesdays attractive program at this metropolitan course. Should all answer the bugle for the five and one-half furlong dash the event will gross 3,025, with the winner receiving ,350. Under the conditions of the Tremont, Getthere Jack in addition to the Trio Stables Smooth Stride, and Mrs. L. P. Tates Jean Baptiste, has been assigned 122 pounds. Their rivals including the world record holder Reneged, Eiffel Blue, Toby B. and Bob OBob have been accorded IN pound imposts. Seen as Prohibitive Choice Getthere Jack most likely will be the prohibitive choice to register the seventh success of his brief but sparkling career. The sturdy gelded son of Bimelech By Sea made his last start in the Great Kills Purse here in which he decisively bested a formidable group of youngsters including I Toby M. and Jean Baptiste. His winning margin was two lengths, but this advantage could definitely have been increased considerably had his rider so desired. Getthere Jack accounted for five straight victories in Florida before his arrival in the East. One of his only two setbacks came in the Bay State Kindergarten Stakes at ! Suffolk in which he bolted after racing forwardly during the early running. His other defeat was encountered at the hands of Pollys Jet in the Juvenile at Belmont Park. Eddie Arcaro rode the Lily Ann gelding in his last start, but will be replaced by Headley Woodhouse in the Tremont. With the aid of a brisk tail-wind Reneged equalled the prevailing track and worlds record for the four and one-half furlongs distance in his latest start. Under the guidance of Paul J. Bailey, who again will be in the saddle, Reneged reeled off the four and one-half panels of the Widener chute in :49, besting his nearest rival by three lengths. Smooth Stride, who recently arrived from New Jersey, gained considerable prestige when he won the Youthful at Jamaica and finished second to the highly regarded Pollys Jet in the Cherry Hill Stakes at Garden State. He bore out in his last start at Monmouth and finished third in an allowance dash. Since his arrival here he has been training cleverly. Smooth Stride will be ridden by Eric Guerin. Toby B. and Jean Baptiste finished fourth and fifth respectively to Getthere Jack in the Great Kills Purse. The for- i mer was bested slightly more than five lengths with Jean Baptiste another three lengths removed. Both would have to display decided improvement in order to reverse the decision. Toby B. again will be handled by Doug Dodson. Stanley Small has been assigned the mount on Jean Baptiste. Inactive Since Gulfstream Bob-O-Bob has been inactive since Gulf-stream Park. Though still a maiden he did come forth with a precocious effort when he finished in the runner-up position in the Florida Juvenile. His morning trials have been impressive and could mark him as the dark horse of the group. Richard McLaughlin will have the mount. Eiffel Blue earned his graduation victory in his last start at Belmont Park in which he prevailed over a rather mediocre band of maidens. In his second to last outing he finished second to Nail in a four and one-half furlong jaunt down the Widener chute. Eiffel Blue will be ridden by Eugene Rodriguez.
